1) маркеркадр специального формата (определённая последовательность битов), непрерывно циркулирующий по локальной сети. Применяется для управления процессом передачи данных в сетях с топологией Token Ring. Он может быть одновременно использован только одной рабочей станцией сети. Обладание маркером даёт станции право послать одно собственное сообщение, в противном случае она может только передавать чужие. Сообщение, посылаемое по кольцевой маркерной сети, получают все станции, каждая из них проверяет, не ей ли оно адресовано.
